What is DataLoch?

DataLoch is a data service that has been developed in partnership by the University of Edinburgh and NHS Lothian. Further NHS Boards and Local Authorities in South-East Scotland will join our partnership in the future to ensure the benefits of our work extend to the entire region.

In the DataLoch team, we believe that putting data at the centre of responses to health and social care system challenges is crucial to improving services through research, innovation and planning.

Our approach will lead to better decision-making, research, and support for colleagues on the front line. We will do this by:

  • bringing together health and social care data for the South-East Scotland region;
  • working with experts in health and social care to understand and improve this data; and
  • providing safe access to data for researchers.

Our Purpose

Meet the Team

Our close-knit team of clinical experts, data analysts, service managers, and governance specialists enable improvements in health and social care that will make a real difference to the everyday lives of residents in South-East Scotland.

In support of our goals, the Clinical Team, ensures there is front-line input to prioritisation and project approvals. They are also part of DataLoch’s data cleansing and curating process, validating clinical definitions and data standards.
